On 10 November 2025 a white car was first seen at 6:42 am on the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway. CCTV later traced the car’s route into Delhi, showing stops at Badarpur toll, an Okhla petrol pump, Ashram Chowk, the DND, Mayur Vihar, Nizamuddin, India Gate and Connaught Place. The vehicle parked near Faiz-e-Ilahi Masjid and Sunehri Masjid before, at 6:52 pm, stopping near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station and exploding seconds later.

Eyewitnesses described a devastating scene: severed limbs, cars and rickshaws aflame, and remains scattered more than 100 metres away. Families identified victims by tattoos, ID cards and clothing. The NIA took over the probe, registering cases under the UAPA and Explosives Act.

With physical evidence largely destroyed, investigators relied on the car’s number plate. CCTV tracking showed the Hyundai had been bought in October 2025 by Dr. Umar Nabi. Forensic tests matched DNA from a burnt leg found in the car to samples from his mother, leading authorities to identify him as the person inside the vehicle. An undated video of Umar justifying suicide bombing surfaced online; officials urged it not be aired.

The NIA arrested two associates, Aamir Rashid Ali and Jasir Bilal Wani, and investigators linked the case to a separate Faridabad terror module involving doctors and large quantities of suspected ammonium nitrate. Forensic confirmation and conclusive links remain under way.
