Before she walked into Bigg Boss 19, Tanya Mittal had already lived through several turns. She started a business with Rs. 500, won a pageant, and built herself on social media. Each step brought a new chapter.
Tanya Mittal was born on 27 September 1995 in Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh. On a reality show, she spoke about her childhood. She said her father would hit her and her mother would stop him. She said she spoke to her father only when necessary.
After completing her schooling in Gwalior, she moved to Chandigarh to study architecture. She left the course midway and returned home. Her relatives questioned her decision and advised her to consider marriage. They told her that without a degree she would not find a job.
With Rs. 500 she decided to start a business. She bought art supplies and began making handmade greeting cards. Her first order came within a week, but she said she was not paid. She later sold her gold jewellery and three iPhones to pay her employees. Her venture, Handmade Love, expanded to include sarees, handbags, accessories and home decor.
In her early twenties, she went through a breakup. She said this led her to join a pageant institute in Gwalior. She trained for six months and lost 13 kilograms. In 2018, she took part in the Miss Asia Tourism Universe pageant. She said she participated against her parents’ wishes. She represented India and won the title.
After the pageant, she received modelling work, brand collaborations and opportunities on social media. She posted videos on motivation, spirituality and daily life.
In 2025, she came into focus during the Mahakumbh stampede. She claimed she helped people during the incident with support from her bodyguards. Her statement drew attention.
Later in the year, she entered Bigg Boss 19. Viewers discussed her statements on the show, including her claim of having 150 bodyguards and a kitchen lift. Social media users fact-checked her comments and circulated her older videos. She continued to repeat what she had said.
Inside the house, she spent time with contestants Neelam Giri and Amaal Mallik. These relationships changed later, and she was seen with contestant Farahana Bhatt. She was pulled up by host Salman Khan for comments about a co-contestant. In another episode, producer Ekta Kapoor entered the house and offered her a show.
Tanya Mittal continues to remain part of public conversations, both on the show and outside it.
